Virginia City's Legendary Saloon

The Historic Delta Saloon, the crown jewel of Virginia City, has been a legendary gathering place since the 1860s. Nestled in the heart of Nevada’s famous mining town, it has welcomed miners, gamblers, and adventurers for over 150 years. Famous for its rich Wild West history, the saloon holds tales of fortunes won and lost, including the eerie legend of the Suicide Table—a faro table said to have driven unlucky gamblers to despair. Mark Twain himself frequented the Delta, sharing drinks and stories that helped shape his early writings. Today, visitors can experience the same spirited atmosphere that once captivated the frontier.
After years of decline, the Delta Saloon is undergoing a remarkable revival under new owner Jim Grimes, who took over in May 2024. With a deep respect for its storied past, Jim and his team are restoring the saloon’s iconic charm while revitalizing it as Virginia City’s premier destination. From preserving historic features to enhancing the guest experience, the Delta is reclaiming its place as a must-visit landmark. Whether enjoying a drink at the historic bar or standing where Twain once stood, visitors can immerse themselves in a living piece of the Old West as the Delta Saloon’s next chapter unfolds.
